Commonly when someone thinks about the south and Mississippi, their thoughts linger on southern hospitality, an overwhelming sense of tradition and humid weather. A little bit deeper lies a complex society, more closely interwoven than almost anywhere else in the country, where friends know friends and six degrees of separation turns to two. Deeper still, though, lies something totally different.
Amidst the facade of compassion camaraderie lie prejudice and resentment. The youth of the once renown south is changing to catch the rest of the nation and the change is coming fast. One product of this changing time is music and in the backwoods of Mississippi something new has emerged.
Avi Ghosh
Defy is Avi Ghosh, a talented, multi-instrumentalist who also handles all aspects of recording, engineering, and producing. From his vision, Defy was born and now the dream takes form. Within a week of public release, the music of Defy shot to the top of the Internet charts, instantly drawing an extremely eclectic group of followers around the world. Even commercial radio stations in Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio, and Missouri have picked up on the buzz of Defy.
Through Defy, Avi has released three full length albums, one remix album, and is working on the next full length release. Defy is finally ready to etch a permanent place in music history.
